About Ava
Ava trained as a corporate paralegal in Stockholm, then moved into gambling compliance in 2015 when the Swedish licensing market opened up under the new Spelinspektionen framework. Her first three years were spent inside operator legal teams writing, defending and rewriting bonus terms to match each jurisdiction.
She joined a licensing consultancy in 2018 and spent four years walking operators through the GCB reform process, the MGA renewal cycle, and the early UKGC affordability checks. That is where the fact-checking instinct comes from. In a regulator-facing role, every claim has to be backed by a source document, a screenshot, a contract clause or a wallet transaction. Marketing-speak does not survive an audit.
On PotsOfGold she runs the verification stage. Every review, every promo page, every payment table and every licence reference is read line by line against the regulator published register, the operator public T&Cs, and her own test deposits. If the editor and the cashier disagree, the cashier wins and the review gets rewritten.
Outside compliance she co-runs a small reading group in Stockholm focused on responsible gambling policy and EU consumer protection law. She has also written two short opinion pieces for the iGaming Times on Curacao reform that you can ask her about if you want to see her writing in long-form.
What Ava covers
Recent work
Credentials
Fact-checks every page before publish. Verifies licences, bonus terms, payment fees, KYC thresholds, and responsible-play tooling against the live cashier.
Editorial standards
Every piece carrying this byline has been tested by Ava personally, deposit through withdrawal, before publishing. Bonus terms are pulled from the live cashier on the day of writing. Numbers, licence details, and small print are then independently double-checked by our compliance lead before anything goes live.
